Mozia was an ancient Phoenician colony located on an island off the west coast of Sicily near Mazara. An ancient causeway linked it to the mainland. No you must take a short boat ride to reach the isle.  Mozia was destroyed in the 6th century B.C. by the tyrant of Syracuse, Dionysus.
