2002 Excavations and Survey

We continued with last year's excavation in the modern town of Salemi. Our goal was to unearth the remains of the ancient city of Alicia.

Our excavation location was at the Monastery of the Conception, where two large coutyards where available for us to excavate. We uncovered mostly medieval occupation, dating to the 12th c. AD.

We also spent some time excavating and surveying on top of Montagne Grande, where a small Iron Age settlement was located..
