The heart of the Gnome army is its Sacred site and Pinic Aera. This is a 2x2 BB that utilizes the new edition rules for Sacred Sites and Camps. This base was made with two 3" croche templates taped one on top of the other. The 3D effect was made by cutting out a section of the top template with a sissors in the desired pond shape. The hill that the tree sits on was made with the extra cut-out template material. Painted masking tape covers the exposed portion of the bottom template. The gridded holes in the template make a great uneven surface for water that can be highlighted with pearl to simulate waves. The top template was also taped over to provide a glueing surface for the flock. Finally, sand and a few rocks were glued on the interface of the two templates to make a sloped beach area. The lower portion of the sand glued that sits on top of the water was washed with a gray to make it appear it was underwater.
The frog is from Chariot. The Tree is scratch built, and holds an owl who
is the Protective Spirit. The napping gnomes and Fisherman are Peter Pig figures.
The picnic blanket is made out of painted masking tape that is folder on top
of itself, and the dishes and cups are made out of hot glue. The sitting figure
holding a glass is home-molded.
